Hiyam’s Story

A Place that Feels Like Home

At our Women’s Center in Bar Elias, Hiyam — originally from Palestine — has found more than just support; she’s found a true sense of comfort and connection. A devoted grandmother and lifelong learner, she takes part in nearly every session we offer, from English lessons to community-building activities. Her presence lights up the space with warmth and curiosity.

The center has become a sanctuary for Hiyam — a place where pressures ease, new friendships form, and confidence is rebuilt.

“I am grateful to this place because I feel here as if it is my home, and the people in the center are very nice. The center provides me with psychological relief from the pressures I am exposed to abroad. When I am here I feel self-confident, and what I love most is getting to know people of different nationalities and learning about their culture.” — says Hiyam.
